3 Apple stores
numerous phone calls to check wait times at previous mentioned stores
finally 2 hours on line with 4 kids with no snacks and no help
PRICELESS!
Not 1 but 2 :
isn't it pretty!?!?!?!?
I have waited and waited for this phone ever since the first series was released a year ago. At the time and for one more week I am tied into a 2 year nightmare with Verizon. Ok not really a nightmare because they have been pretty good - Sprint on the other hand is the worst company in the world but that is for another day. So I have eagerly awaited for the release today of the 3g. After hearing from Steve this morning that he wasn't going to be successful in obtaining one in the city I was forced to take matters into my own hands. I get the kids into the car and we head out. It's 9am and I head to the 1st of many AT&T stores we will visit today. When pulling into the parking lot I see some store employee's come out and address the crowd and then watch as some walk off the line. I figure they are sold out and I don't even get out of the car. We head off to the 1st Apple store and get excited when we walk up only to see 6 people in front. I can't believe it there are only 6 people?!?!? Then I turn my head to see the line of dozens and dozens of people that are stuffed into a corridor like sardines. Yes the thought crossed my mind to get on it but then I was snapped back to reality when Bella asked for dinner .....it was only 10am. We pile back into the car and go to 2 more At&t stores and 1 more Apple store. Lines longer than anything I have ever seen before. You would have thought Steve Jobs was handing them out personally. After feeding the kids lunch and experiencing Steve and Barry's (OMG I will love this store!!! - thanks alot Virginia) we head home defeated. We'll really just me because the kids could have cared less but they were good at pointing out various AT&T stores along our travels by spotting the lines of people everywhere. Finally I decide to make one last attempt after I had called the 3rd Apple store to hear that they only had 40 people or so on line and there was hope I would succeed. So at 5:45 we pile back into the truck and 45min later we are standing in line with about 50 people. While on line I had people stopping to applaud the children and how well they were behaving. People couldn't believe I was standing on line with 4 kids. Like Steve said - I love a challenge and was going to do anything to get one today. The kids were good until the final 30 minutes. At that point though most of the adults were losing it also. Thankfully Steve showed up to save the day...really to save the kids...OK really to save Bella! Oh that Bella is just dancing to her own beat!
After waiting for a group of unhappy customers to finish yelling at the manager we get called into the store. I think I cried! The last time I ever waited this long for anything was when Jurassic Park came out and we waited on line over night. At least for that we had plenty to entertain us! OK back to my new toy - I have touched it once since we left the store. I need to sit in peace and quiet to take it all in. I am sure it was worth the wait! Samantha wants one when she grows up. Little does she know it will most likely be obsolete by then but for now I will enjoy it!
Listen for my call soon so I can give you my new #! I had to get a new cell because it was time and I want nothing my the best for my baby :)
