Laying on the guilt - with 6 days to go.....

I'm no fool I know how to work the system. With 6 days to go till a particular holiday that is supposed to honor my existence as a mother to all these kids that keep finding a home here - I needed some guilt.

We had to open the pool last week so that the mason guys could come back and FINISH THE JOB. Well they haven't been here yet and the rain isn't helping. The thing is the pool still needs to be tended too. If you remember when we closed it we had just changed the liner and we were forced to fill the pool with the ground water. So now with it open we had to deal with some extra minerals in the water. Not too much of a big deal but we need to stay on top of it with the chemicals and filter for a few days.

Here's the guilt. Steve is/was away again and the kids were having no part of playing in the rain. The pool needed a chemical which I was strictly told not to touch and to get someone else to do it. The catch is that the chemical needed to go in this particular morning before the filter could go on. So I held my breath and dump the powder quick who else is gonna do it don't give me a hard time people. Hey what's a couple of extra fingers for the unborn - that could be cool :) Get it bad chemical - I breath it in and it gives the baby some extra toes or something... OK maybe that wasn't so funny but that's part of the guilt. The other part is that this is 7am in the morning in the pouring rain. Samantha offered to take some pictures....what a great idea that way we can show Daddy what I had to do. YES the dogs were out with me - they dried eventually.

I had to go around with the whole pool with the brush - I swear that is the longest process in the world.

Look at Sam - she's a professional - yes I had flip flops on in the rain. I am not wearing my pink boots in pictures anymore since someone is always making fun of them....mainly cause she is jealous she doesn't have a pair :)

Then after scrubbing down the sides I needed to grab as many leaves as I could so that they didn't get sucked into the filter

Then I had to dump said leaves into a pile and go back to grab some more - great action shot Sam.

That's it - there was some more after I came in but I am not sure who pulled off the whole "wet dog" look better me or Dexter so I am not sharing those. So lets review - we have:

1. deadly pool chemicals added by pregnant woman
2. pool cleaning done in the pouring rain
3. pool cleaning done in the pouring rain at 7am in the morning
4. it was cold I could have lost a toe to frost bite
5. wet dog tried shaking off numerous times near me nearly knocking me into the pool
6. got nothing else but wanted 6 :)
