OK I am babbling but I have a point I swear. So I had all intentions of getting the boy his haircut today. I take him down to the barber and they are BOOKED. Seriously why do so many people wait till Saturday to get a haircut?!?! So since we were out I decided to run over to the dress store around the corner. I have been teased with all the communion dresses in the windows all week but just haven't had a chance to stop in.
I run in with Steven who is all but thrilled to be there to just "check" There are literally hundreds of dresses. The nice ladies point to the proper racks with the sizes I needed and off I look. I see a few but really want Samantha with me to pick. I mean this is her dress. So I call her an ask her if she wants to take a ride down to look for a minute. She says " No I don't need to look just pick one for me and that will be fine" There is no question the kid looks like Steve but she is all me in every other way. Only if she knew when she gets older she will care more about her clothes.
WHAT ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? Of course, I am not comparing a wedding to a communion but this is NY and if your from here then you know how crazy these things get. So I explain to her that I was not just "picking one up" and coming home. So the next best thing is bribery. I quickly call her Aunt Gin Gin and ask her to come to the store that way Sam would. Of course, now Sam is waiting for me at the door all ready to go. Little did I know it was all in her grand scheme. See she figured if Virginia came then we would have to drop Virginia back off at home which would be a perfect opportunity for Samantha to ask if she could go and play Rock Band with Frankie and Ryan. It was never about the dress.
Now Steve made it very clear that whatever his little girl wants she gets because she is the first born and he so favors her.......OK you know I am kidding he loves all his children equally (just loves Sam at little more - if this is one of my children reading this just go ask Daddy for some money or a car and you'll forget all about who his favorite is)
So the nice ladies gave us a rack which was quickly filled with a pile of whiteness:
Here is all of the dresses she tried on with the exception of I think 1 that I forgot to take the picture of. The funny thing about that is this 1 forget to photograph is the 1 all 3 of us loved but it was too small :(
Choice #1
Choice # 2
Choice # 3
Choice # 4
Choice #5
Choice # 6
and the winner is.............choice # COME ON do you really think I am gonna tell you?!?!? No way you have to wait till the big day! I will say that Samantha did get the one SHE WANTED. Both her Aunt and I had another one in mind but in the end Samantha got what she wanted and it was the perfect choice....or it will be once I make the proper alterations to it (there is some plastic involved in the trim WHO PUTS PLASTIC ON A DRESS) There will be NO plastic on my daughters communion dress. I will also say that one of those choices cost over $800....I know that is crazy and I was not the one to pick it out Steve!
All that's left is the shoes and the veil and the tiara. Yes she wants the tiara! So much for NOT being a princess. Looks like the soccer chic can clean up for a day. Oh and what she could really use is a family heirloom for her day. I sure wished I had something from my communion to pass on to Sam. Like....oh I don't know maybe a small clutch like purse. Something big enough for her bible and rosary beads. I am thinking that if someone (Aunt Rosalie) could possibly make this in diamond white that would be just as good as if I had one to pass on to her. This bag would then get passed on to Bella and Sophia to use on their communion days. Don't you think that is a fabulous idea Aunt Rosalie?!?! I was going to call, I mean I will call but I know you read this and I thought you would get a kick out of my request here. Let me know.....seriously you so have to make her something because I don't want to buy just any old bag it has to be special!
